It is a newcomer to the Calabrian agricultural scene, but it draws on the century-old tradition of the Ventura family.
It is a newcomer to the Calabrian agricultural scene, but it draws on the century-old tradition of the Ventura family. The estate extends to 50 ha (123.5 ac), mostly hillside, within the territory of Nocera Terinese, and also includes a small, level olive orchard in the municipality of Gizzeria, within the DOP Lametia-certified area. The farm’s core business is the production of extra virgin olive oil and table olives originating from a 25-ha (61.8 ac) orchard.
The farm is focused on multifunctional agriculture: it has recently started to use their woods and olive pruning residues and to plant fast-growing plants for the production of wood chips to be used as a fuel.
The remaining estate is used for the production of aromatic herbs, vegetables and citrus. Two hectares (4.9 ac) have recently been used to experiment avocado cultivation, planted in 2006.
