"Olio Capitale 2015" oil pdo lametia

Olive oil Lametia PDO (protected designation of origin) at the event "Olio Capitale 2015".

The event will take place in Trieste from March 7 to 10 with the exhibition dedicated to the extra virgin olive oil.

The statistics speak for themselves: 2014 will be remembered as the black year for the Italian olive oil. Due to the unfavorable climate and oil fly the production of oil stood below the 300 thousand tons and has dropped by 37% compared to 2013, with peaks of 45% in the "excellence" regions such as Umbria and Tuscany.

A crisis that devastated many farmers but did not extinguish their desire to react. This is demonstrated by the large participation of the major Italian manufacturers of Oil at the "Olio Capitale 2015".

The hall dedicated to the typical and first quality extra virgin olive oils will be held in Trieste from March 7 to 10 at the Stazione Marittima.

A record for the organizers that already in 2014 the exhibitors presence from all over Italy increased of the 10% over the previous year. This year the trend is even more positive, with a growth that stoods around the 20%. In fact in this edition, more than 140 exhibitors will attend occupying the 750 square meters of the Oil City, compared to the 650 square meters occupied in the previous edition. Calabria is one of the leading regions of the exhibition that already in the edition of 2014 has recorded 10,600 visitors.

"Italian olive farmers have responded enthusiastically to our invitation to take part in this important edition "Olio Capitale" for the Expo 2015 - as per Enrico Lupi - this represents their pride and their reaction that drives us to create more and more promotion opportunities for "Olio Capitale". In such a difficult time we must continue to invest on excellence and the identity of our oils and defend the market from counterfeiting and protect consumers".

Again, this year, the Consortium Lametia Dop will be present with the oil dop Lametia. The assignation of the exhibition spaces already started: Calabria and Campania in the Illyria Hall.

Great expectations for the inauguration of the exhibition in which a Recomed delegation will take part. Recomed is the Mediterranean network for "Olio Capitale".

Cooking show will follow in the school kitchen of Emilio Cuk, president of Trieste's chefs. The regions involved will also offer tastings at the stands.
